German engineering company TECHNOLOG, based in Hamburg and a partner of the German engineering alliance IPP (Ingenieur Partner Pool), has developed a liquefied natural gas (LNG) dual-fuel powered offshore transport vessel for Jiangsu Hantong Ship Heavy Industry Co., Ltd (HTS), according to an LNG World News report.
Related agreements have been signed with marine engine manufacturer MAN Diesel Turbo as well as with the classification society Germanischer Lloyd.
The new ship design will reportedly reduce carbon dioxide (CO2) emissions by around 33 per cent compared to conventional powered new constructions.
The HTS-operated vessel will transport supplies for the building and maintenance of offshore wind farms in European waters, for which HTS is a construction partner. Vessel delivery is planned for April 2014.
HTS is headquartered in Tongzhou City, Jiangsu.
