Santa Cruz Metro Gets Ready for More CNG Buses

Santa Cruz Metro is the recipient of a USD 11,010,047 grant from the California Department of Transportation’s Proposition 1B round of funding, which will be applied to the construction of a new Metro Base bus operations center. The Santa Cruz Sentinel reports the new facility will improve Metro’s capacity to serve its fleet that includes many compressed natural gas (CNG) powered buses as well as enable the number of CNG buses in the fleet to grow. “I think what the riders are going to see is the continuing delivery of buses that are CNG-powered,”  said Les White, Metro’s general manager.
