The City of Tucson will get $5.6 million in grants from the Federal Transit Administration’s State of Good Repair program.
Two-thirds of the money will be used to replace aging buses with buses that run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The rest will be used to upgrade an inefficient, 20-year-old CNG fueling station.
The funds, which were announced today, are a share of $928.5 million in federal grants for 300 public transportation projects nationwide.
